Kings Harbor Multicare Center provides long-term skilled nursing care, subacute services and dementia care for more than 700 residents. Services and departments include nursing care, medical services, therapeutic recreation, occupational, physical and speech rehabilitation therapies, as well as social, psychological and hospice services. A three-building campus facility
with surrounding gardens ensures that residents with similar
capabilities are grouped together. Please read below for more information about our services and departments.
The nursing staff at Kings Harbor is selected for their skill, training and
compassion. Under the leadership of the Director of Nursing Services,
more than 400
nursing employees staff our sixteen nursing units. The
Nurse Manager on each unit has 24-hour responsibility over all aspects of
resident care. Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are on duty 24
hours a day to provide supervision, care, treatment and medication. Close
relationships are formed between residents and our Certified Nursing
Assistants (CNAs) who provide personal care assistance when
necessary, and encourage independence where appropriate.
Kings Harbor's full-time Medical Director is board-certified in both Internal
Medicine and Geriatrics. He is a Certified Medical Director having fulfilled all
of the requirements of the American Medical Director's Certification Program,
and has recently been named one of the Best Doctors in Geriatric Medicine by New
York Magazine. He oversees a range of staff including physicians, physician
assistants and medical specialists. Medical students from the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine and Geriatric Fellows from both Montefiore Medical Center
and Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center receive part of their training at Kings
Harbor. A primary care physician is assigned to each resident.
On-site medical services include:

wide range of geriatric diagnoses, including dementia (Alzheimer's Disease). Residents requiring tube feedings, wound care, intraveneous fluid/antibiotics, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and continuous oxygen can be accommodated. Kings Harbor has also formed a Hospice Care Program in the facility.
Social, creative and intellectual stimulation are key to a resident's
emotional and physical well-being. Therapeutic recreation programs - art, gardening, games,
music, discussion, day trips, exercise and sensory programs - are
designed for each resident's individual ability,
providing an opportunity for
self-expression and encouraging social interaction. A computer center, live entertainment, clubs, religious services and wellness programs are part of the recreation program, promoting an enriched, healthy leisure lifestyle.
The Recreation Department supervises the Resident Council where
residents have an opportunity to voice their opinions and make
recommendations regarding their day-to-day living at Kings Harbor.

adjustment by residents and their families. Professionals in our social

discharge planning services and other important supportive interventions. Special
translation services are always available, facilitating communication and
enhancing residents' and families' sense of comfort and security.

Registered
